In this blog post I would like to tell you more about the fabrics we work with, would you like to read along?
We start with the fabric we are most proud of having been able to find in beautiful colors and patterns . This is the LENZING™ ECOVERO™.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ is a sustainable version of viscose and is a brand of Lenzing AG.
Lenzing™ is a cellulose fiber. Cotton and linen are also cellulose fibers. Therefore, the properties of Lenzing™ are similar to those of cotton and linen. However, cotton and linen are plant-based (grow as a plant) and Lenzing™ is man-made.
Lenzing™ fabric is made from wood that comes from sustainable and certified sources. Yes, an Austrian company has come up with something to turn a tree into fabric fibers.
The liquid raw material base is pressed under high pressure through a small cap with holes. Then it is immediately cooled so that the liquid solidifies and filaments are created. These are infinitely long threads. You can use them directly as yarn. You can also cut them into fibers. How cool is that!
Lenzing™ EcoVero is the sustainable version of viscose. Compared to 'normal' viscose, 50% water is saved during production and emissions are 50% lower. In addition, Lenzing™ is produced using chlorine-free technology, making it completely biodegradable.
Shall we list a few more plus points? Here it comes:
- looks similar to lyocell and tencel
- quickly absorbs a lot of moisture, even more than cotton
- dries quickly and is breathable (high wearing comfort on warm days)
- is light in weight and wonderfully soft
- has a matte sheen
- has very good color fastness compared to cotton
This makes you happy, doesn't it? Items in your closet from the most sustainable origin possible and made in the Netherlands too!
